Liverpool vs Salzburg

Venue: Anfield | Start: 05:00

Liverpool: Liverpool have been the most impressive UCL side over the last two seasons, making two finals and winning the trophy last year. Their league form has also been stellar, where they’ve won every game so far. They lost their UCL opener to Napoli a fortnight ago, a 2-0 loss in Naples. That said, they lost all 3 road group games last year and still advanced all the way.

Red Bull Salzburg: Red Bull find themselves 1st in the Austrian Bundesliga with 25 points after 9 games. They are undefeated so far and boast a very impressive +31-goal difference. They had another outstanding performance at the weekend, a very comfortable 4-1 win over Austria Wein.

Betting Analysis: Liverpool have been a great side after a loss in the Klopp era and I see no reason why that changes here. Anfield has been an absolute fortress of late, both domestically and in Europe. I’m predicting a pretty strong 4-1 victory here, meaning the Liverpool -2 handicap is also a solid option.

Losco vs Chelsea

Venue: | Start: 05:00

Lille: Lille have gotten off to a decent start this season, currently in 4th spot with 14 points. They managed a well-earned point on the road last time out against strong rival OGC Nice. Their UCL campaign got underway with a very disappointing result, a 3-0 loss to Ajax that puts them way behind the 8-ball.

Chelsea: It has been a decent start to life at Chelsea for Frank Lampard, with his side on 11 points through 7 games. They had an outstanding 7-1 win in the League Cup midweek, backed up by a professional 2-0 win over Brighton last time out. Their academy youngsters are beginning to form a very solid spine, namely Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount. They could’ve gotten off to a better start to their UCL campaign, falling 1-0 at home to Valencia last time out.

Betting Analysis: Both sides really need to get a result here or they’re in real danger of missing out on the knockout stages. Chelsea have really started to round into form of late and should capitalise on their talent advantage here. Chelsea at $2 to win outright is decent value, with Chelsea by exactly 1 goal at $3.75 looking even better. 2-1 Chelsea is my projected scoreline here, meaning BTTS and over 2.5 goals are both also in play.

Barcelona vs Internazionale

Venue: Camp Nou | Start: 05:00

Barcelona: It hasn’t been the ideal start for Barcelona, who currently sit 4th in La Liga with 13 points. This is in large part due to the injuries suffered by Messi, who is understandably difficult to replace. Their form has improved somewhat of late, with consecutive wins over Villareal and Getafe. They battled it out to a goalless draw at Dortmund in round 1, and will want a result here to keep pace.

Inter Milan: Inter have gotten off to a roaring start, winning each of their first 6 league games to sit atop the Serie A. They had an impressive road win last time out, beating Sampdoria 3-1 despite Alexis Sanchez being sent off. They’ve conceded just 2 goals all league season, indicative of their excellent defensive game. They also started off the group stage with a draw, a disappointing 1-1 at home to Slavia Praha.

Betting Analysis: Barcelona enter this one as comfortable favourites but I think Inter can definitely compete here. They’ve been one of the better defensive sides in Europe this season and are coming up against an attack that isn’t nearly as potent without Messi. I think the draw at $4.20 is definitely reasonable value here, with 0-0 and 1-1 as the most likely outcomes. On the total side, I can definitely see some value in under 2.5 goals in what should be a cagey affair.
