New Orleans Pelicans point guard Lonzo Ball will not play against the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday night after sustaining a right adductor strain, the team announced.
Ball initially was injured in a Nov. 2 game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, but said he played through the pain when the Pelicans faced the Brooklyn Nets on Monday.
Ball, 22, totaled 15 points with two rebounds and three assists in that 135-125 setback to the Nets, then played Friday night in a 122-104 home loss to the Toronto Raptors. After managing only five points, four rebounds and two assists in 23 minutes, he exited in the third quarter and did not return after trainers wrapped his right leg.
Ball is averaging 11.5 points, 6.1 assists and 4.5 rebounds in 29.0 minutes per game this season.
