SEAHAWKS VS VIKINGS

Venue: CenturyLink Field | Start: 12:15pm AEDT

Rivals dating back to their days at Wisconsin and Michigan State, Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks host Kirk Cousins and the Minnesota Vikings in a “Monday Night Football” clash with all sorts of NFC playoff implications. Their backfield teammates might be even more integral to the outcome. Through 11 games, Minnesota’s Dalvin Cook has already eclipsed the 1,000 mark, rushing for more yards this year (1,017 yards with 11 TDs) than in his previous two injury-shortened NFL campaigns combined. The Seahawks, meanwhile, are led by Chris Carson (currently 9th in the NFL with 879 yards), though it was 2018 first round pick Rashaad Penny who shined a week ago in Philadelphia, rushing for a career-high 129 yards on 14 carries. Carson, meanwhile, ran for just 26 yards on a season-low eight carries and fumbled for the third consecutive game, making it seven times this year he’s put the ball on the ground. Perhaps to be expected at this point in the season, both veteran teams have plenty of big names on the injury list with Cook (chest), wideout Adam Thielen (hamstring), safety Harrison Smith (hamstring), edge rusher Everson Griffen (knee) and Linval Joseph (knee) all officially listed as questionable for Minnesota, among others. Similarly, Seattle listed rusher Jadeveon Clowney (groin), safety Quandre Diggs and starting offensive linemen Duane Brown (biceps) and Mike Iupati (neck), as well as Wilson’s favorite three receivers Tyler Lockett (shin), DK Metcalf (knee) and Josh Gordon (ankle) as questionable, as well. Given everything on the line and the extra day off, it would be surprising if most, if not all, didn’t play. Thielen, in particular, would be a huge addition for Minnesota if able to return from the hamstring injury which has limited him the past five games. Seattle’s cornerbacks would have their hands full against he and speedster Stefon Diggs, opening up passing lanes for Cook, as well as the Vikings’ twin tight ends, Kyle Rudolph and athletic rookie Irv Smith Jr.

Win: Seattle Seahawks
Line: Seattle Seahawks -3.5
Total Points: Under 49.5
