CHIEFS VS TITANS
Venue: Arrowhead Stadium | Start: 7:05am AEDT
The red-hot, sixth-seeded Tennessee Titans seek another upset of the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday in the AFC Championship Game. The Titans used 188 rushing yards and two touchdowns from Derrick Henry and some special teams magic to erase a 10-point deficit and beat the Chiefs 35-32 on Nov. 10. That began an eight-game stretch in which Henry has totaled an eye-popping 203 carries for 1,273 yards and 11 scores, including 195 yards in last week’s stunning 28-12 upset of top-seeded Baltimore. The second-seeded Chiefs are on fire as well, winning seven straight games since the loss to Tennessee and treating a 24-0 deficit to visiting Houston last week like a mere speed bump. Patrick Mahomes threw for 321 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs scored touchdowns on seven consecutive possessions for 41 straight points in a 51-31 victory over the Texans. Kansas City is hosting the AFC Championship Game for the second straight season after never before doing so, and coach Andy Reid is making his seventh appearance in a conference title game, having gone 1-5 thus far. Reid is also just 1-8 against the Titans, who are in their first championship game in 17 years. Tennessee is 9-3 since Ryan Tannehill took over as the starting quarterback.
Win: Kansas City Chiefs
Line: Kansas City Chiefs -7.5
Total Points: Over 53.5
49ERS VS PACKERS
Venue: Levi’s Stadium | Start: 10:40am AEDT
The second-seeded Green Bay Packers hope for a different result when they visit the top-seeded San Francisco 49ers on Sunday in Santa Clara, Calif., for the NFC Championship Game. The Niners waxed the Packers 37-8 in Santa Clara on Nov. 24, with Aaron Rodgers finishing 20 of 33 for just 104 yards while absorbing five sacks. The 3.15 yards per attempt was his worst single-game mark ever as a starter. But Green Bay hasn’t lost since, running off five straight victories to close the regular season before beating the Seattle Seahawks 28-23 at home on Sunday. Davante Adams set a franchise playoff record with 160 receiving yards and scored twice. San Francisco, meanwhile, has an extra day of rest after dispatching the Minnesota Vikings 27-10 at home on Saturday, when they had nearly as many sacks (six) as first downs allowed (seven). Minnesota gained just 147 total yards. Jimmy Garoppolo threw for just 131 yards in the win, and he has three touchdowns and three interceptions over his past four games. Sunday will mark the eighth playoff meeting between Green Bay and San Francisco, all since 1996, and the second in the conference championship. The Packers won the first three postseason battles — including two on the road — but have lost three of four, including both on the road.
Win: San Francisco 49ers
Line: San Francisco 49ers -7.5
Total Points: Over 45.5
