CAVALIERS VS WIZARDS

Venue: Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse | Start: 11:00am AEDT

A couple of teams that have gone through recent struggles meet Thursday night when the Washington Wizards visit the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavaliers have a long list of issues, including a 2-10 mark in their last 12 games. Cavaliers center Ante Zizic has been dealing with vertigo … Cleveland center Tristan Thompson has a team-leading 21 double-doubles this season, including a career-high 22 rebounds in Monday’s game against the New York Knicks. The Cavaliers have had two days off since Monday’s 106-86 home loss sent them to their fifth loss in a row. Cleveland guard Darius Garland has scored in double figures in 13 consecutive games, marking the longest active streak among NBA rookies. Cleveland has won its last three home games against Washington. Plus, the Cavaliers won the only meeting this season between the teams by 113-100 at Washington, with a season-high seven players for Cleveland scoring in double figures in that game. Thompson posted 21 points in that first meeting. Washington lost for the fourth time in its last five games with Wednesday night’s 134-129 overtime setback at Miami. It was the beginning of a four-game road swing for the Wizards, who wiped out a 21-point Miami lead before stalling in overtime. Bradley Beal posted 38 points.

NETS VS LAKERS

Venue: Barclays Center | Start: 12:00pm AEDT

The Los Angeles Lakers will remain in New York for the second consecutive night, taking on the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday one day after earning a 100-92 victory over the Knicks. It was a much-needed win for the Lakers, who have Anthony Davis back in the fold but lost his return 139-107 against the Boston Celtics on Monday. Davis had nine points in just over 22 minutes of his return, but had 28 points in 30 minutes against the Knicks. He missed five games with a bruise near his tailbone. LeBron James had 21 points Wednesday in a game at New York that was tied at halftime. The Lakers are a solid 19-4 on the road this season and lead the Western Conference with a 35-9 overall record. They have another game at Philadelphia on Sunday before their five-game road trip ends. The Nets are on a four-game losing streak after falling 117-111 to the 76ers on Monday. Kyrie Irving did not play because of hamstring tightness. Spencer Dinwiddie had 22 points while rookie Nicolas Claxton had a career-best 15. Joe Harris (back) and Garrett Temple (knee) returned to action Monday. Brooklyn is 19th in the NBA with 109.3 points per game and 28th in 3-point shooting at 33.2 percent.

TRAIL BLAZERS VS MAVERICKS

Venue: Moda Center | Start: 2:30pm AEDT

The Portland Trail Blazers hope to ride the hot hand of Damian Lillard when they play host to the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday night. Lillard is coming off a career-best, and franchise record, 61-point game in a 129-124 overtime victory over the Golden State Warriors on Monday. It was his second game with at least 60 points this season and he joins an elite group of players who have reached 60 in multiple games along with Wilt Chamberlain (32 times), Kobe Bryant (six), Michael Jordan (five), Elgin Baylor (four) and Hames Harden (four). It has been a bumpy ride for Portland which has gone 5-10 since Dec. 23. Lillard will be challenged for scoring prowess by the Mavericks’ Luka Doncic, who gave the Trail Blazers all they could handle in Dallas’ 120-112 home victory over Portland on Friday. Doncic had 38 points and hit a career-best eight 3-pointers on 12 attempts. Doncic had 36 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists in a 110-107 home defeat to the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday, while going 3 of 12 from 3-point range. It was the fifth time he has reached at least 30 points in his last 10 games. Dallas welcomed back Kristaps Porzingis (knee) on Tuesday, but Dwight Powell (Achilles) was lost for the season with an injury in that game.

Win: Dallas Mavericks
Line: Portland Trail Blazers +4.5
Total Points: Under 229.5
