The Kansas City Chiefs seek to win their first title in 50 years when they battle the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV in Miami on Sunday. The Chiefs went to two of the first four Super Bowls, losing the inaugural title game and winning Super Bowl IV. If they can snap the drought, Patrick Mahomes would become the second-youngest quarterback ever to win a Super Bowl. The third-year signal-caller comes in on fire, having thrown for 615 yards and eight touchdowns through two playoff games while adding 106 yards and a score on the ground. He’s faced the 49ers once before, throwing for 314 yards and three touchdowns in a Week 3 victory last year. That game didn’t go as well for Jimmy Garoppolo, who tore his ACL and missed the rest of the season. Now fully healthy, Garoppolo has needed to throw only 27 passes through two playoff games, both 17-point victories. The 49ers have rushed for 471 yards in those wins, over Minnesota and Green Bay, and they’ll face a Chiefs defense that finished the regular season 26th in rushing yards allowed (128.2) and 29th in yards per carry (4.93). Kansas City has improved to 89.5 and 4.07, respectively, in the playoffs.
