Melbourne Storm are “closely monitoring” the coronavirus situation in Victoria amid reports they are moving their NRL home game on Friday.

The Storm are due to host New Zealand Warriors at AAMI Park in Melbourne, but Fox Sports reported they would move that game to Sydney due to COVID-19.

Victoria has been Australia’s most affected state with coronavirus in the past six days, recording 106 new cases.

In a brief statement on Monday, the club said: “The NRL and Melbourne Storm are closely monitoring the situation in Victoria in response to the increase in positive COVID-19 tests in recent days.”

Melbourne Storm are due to play their next two games at home, also hosting Sydney Roosters on July 2.

They are sixth in the NRL table after winning four of their opening six games.
