Premier League Tips – Saturday 11 July

Norwich v West Ham

Venue: Carrow Road, Norwich | Start: 9:30 PM

West Ham opens as $2 favourites here, with the Draw at $3.60 and Norwich out at $3.75. Although they’re still mathematically alive, this is likely the weekend where it ends for 20th placed Norwich.

They continued their poor season last time out with a crushing 2-1 defeat to Watford. West Ham is still in and around the relegation battle, sitting in 16th with 31 points.

They also were on the end of a poor defeat last time out, falling 1-0 at home to Burnley. The Hammers do have huge stakes for this one, with a win here going a long way to ensuring their safety.

For this reason, I expect them to hand Norwich another defeat, with the $2 on offer looking fairly good. I don’t expect it to be pretty, but another 2-1 result is definitely in the mix here. I’ll take the handicap draw here, with BTTS also looking solid.

Head to Head: West Ham
Half-time/Full-time: West Ham/West Ham
Over/Under 2.5: Over
Both Teams Score: Yes

Watford v Newcastle

Venue: Vicarage Road, Watford | Start: 9:30 PM

Watford open this one as $1.83 favourites, with the Draw at $3.60 and an injury-riddled Newcastle out at $4.50. The Hornets are firmly in the relegation battle, sitting in 17th and just 3 points above the drop zone.

They had a vital win last time out, narrowly taking care of Norwich 2-1. Newcastle appears to be on the beach already, having secured a place in the league next season.

They were dispatched 5-0 by Man City last time out, in a game more representative of a training run. The Magpies were missing a lot of players to be fair, with the same fate likely awaiting them here.

Combine that with the massive motivation edge for Watford and I’m predicting a Hornets win here. I’ll go for a nervy 2-1 correct score, with BTTS and over 2.5 goals both definitely in play.

Over/Under 2.5: Over

Premier League Tips – Sunday 12 July

Liverpool v Burnley

Venue: Anfield, Liverpool | Start: 12:00 AM

Liverpool open as commanding $1.25 favourites here, with the Draw at $6.50 and Burnley out at $12. The Reds picked up another win last time out, taking care of Brighton 3-1 on the road.

Burnley have enjoyed another relatively anonymous mid-table campaign, currently occupying 10th place with 49 points. They continued their stellar form since lockdown, picking up a 1-0 win over West Ham last time out.

Weirdly, they sit just 3 points off European football and likely have more to play for than their opponents here. That said, I still think the talent gap between these two sides is just too big.

I’d expect Liverpool to win to nil here, with 2-0 being my predicted scoreline. The half-time/full-time double, under 2.5, and ‘no’ in the BTTS market are all solid supplementary bets.

Head to Head: Liverpool
Half-time/Full-time: Liverpool/Liverpool
Over/Under 2.5: Under
Both Teams Score: No

Sheffield Utd v Chelsea

Venue: Bramall Lane, Sheffield | Start: 2:30 AM

This is shaping up to be one of the games of the round, with both sides looking to further their European football claims. Chelsea open as rather strong $1.62 favourites, with the Draw at $3.75 and Sheffield United out at $6.

The Blues have now overtaken Leicester to sit 3rd with 60 points and are in the driver’s seat to play in the Champions League next season. They picked up another narrow win last time out, eking past Crystal Palace 3-2.

Sheffield United remain in the Euro football hunt, now sitting in 7th with 51 points. They also managed a crucial win last time out, getting past Wolves 1-0.

Both sides have a lot to play for here and I see this one being a highly competitive draw. $3.75 already represents good value, but the 1-1 scoreline and BTTS are both good supplementary bets.

Head to Head: Draw
Half-time/Full-time: Sheffield/Draw
Over/Under 2.5: Under
Both Teams Score: Yes

Brighton v Man City

Venue: Amex Stadium, Falmer | Start: 5:00 AM

While this would’ve garnered more attention earlier in the season, neither side is playing for much here. City is commanding $1.30 favourites here, with the Draw at $5.50 and Brighton out at $10.

They’re all but assured 2nd place in the table, especially after a 5-0 thumping of Newcastle last time out. Brighton aren’t out of the woods yet, but they do sit a comfortable 8 points above the drop zone.

They enter this clash off the back of a defeat, falling 3-1 to Liverpool last time out. Unless they rotate too heavily here, I think City has the talent to win this one relatively comfortably.

I can see it being a somewhat free-flowing affair and will predict another 3-1 final scoreline.

Head to Head: City
Half-time/Full-time: City/City
Over/Under 2.5: Over
Both Teams Score: Yes

Wolves v Everton

Venue: Molineux Stadium, Wolverhampton | Start: 9:00 PM

This is another relatively even matchup on paper, with Wolves having a clear motivation edge. They unsurprisingly open as $2.10 favourites, with the Draw at $3.30 and Everton out at $4.

Wolves currently occupy 6th place in the table and appear set for another season in Europe. They suffered a surprise defeat last time out, falling 1-0 at home to Sheffield United.

Everton has had another season of mid-table mediocrity, now in 11th place on 45 points. They had another relatively dulcet game last time out, drawing 1-1 against Southampton.

I think Wolves have the talent edge here and should be rather motivated after a poor performance last time out.

As such, I think they pick up all 3 points here, with the $2.10 on offer looking like strong value. 2-0 is a fairly likely scoreline for me, meaning Wolves -1 and half-time/full-time are solid complimentary bets.

Half-time/Full-time: Wolves/Wolves
Over/Under 2.5: Under

Aston Villa v Crystal Palace

Venue: Villa Park, Birmingham | Start: 11:15 PM

This is another match where just 1 side has something to play for, with Villa looking to avoid relegation and Palace comfortably safe.

Villa open as $2.30 favourites here, with the Draw at $3.30 and Palace also paying $3.30. It hasn’t been a good first season back for Villa, who sit in 19th place with just 27 points.

They had another poor result last time out, a 3-0 home defeat to United. Palace haven’t pulled up any trees this season, although they’re mathematically safe in 14th place.

Their results have been rather mixed since the return to play, falling 3-2 to Chelsea last time out. Villa certainly need this one more, although I don’t have too much faith in them pulling it off here.

I like Palace at the +1 handicap, with the Draw at $3.30 also sticking out positively. I’ll go for the stock standard 1-1 here, meaning that BTTS and under 2.5 are also decent alternatives.

Premier League Tips – Monday 13 July

Spurs v Arsenal

Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London | Start: 1:30 AM

You would’ve surprised most people by predicting that the North London derby with 4 games to go would be between 8th and 9th place.

Both sides admittedly still have something to play for and currently sit just 3 points outside the European places. The two teams are currently equal $2.70 favourites, with the Draw also an option at $3.40.

Spurs just haven’t been a good side lately, currently in 9th place with just 49 points. They had another lacklustre result last time out, being held 0-0 by Bournemouth. Arsenal has picked up slightly of late and now sit in 8th place with 50 total points.

They had a rather entertaining game last time out, ultimately settling on a 1-1 draw with Leicester. It’s very hard to split these two sides and it’d be typical of their seasons so far for both to end up disappointed. I think the current $3.40 for the Draw is very good value, as is $7 for the 1-1 correct scoreline.

Head to Head: Draw
Half-time/Full-time: Arsenal/Draw
Over/Under 2.5: Under
Both Teams Score: Yes

Bournemouth v Leicester

Venue: Vitality Stadium, Bournemouth | Start: 4:00 AM

This is an interesting clash between two sides competing at opposite ends of the table. Leicester are the $1.72 favourites here, with the Draw at $3.75 and Bournemouth at $5. The Foxes have largely struggled since lockdown, now finding themselves 4th with 59 points.

They had their chances against a 10-man Arsenal side last time out but ultimately had to settle for a point. Conversely, Bournemouth looks in real danger of relegation this season, sitting in 18th with 28 points.

They also haven’t been too inspiring of late, playing out a goalless draw with Spurs last time out. With both sides having equal motivation here, I’m going to lean to the more talented Leicester side at $1.72. I think they manage a narrow 2-1 win in this one, with BTTS and over 2.5 goals looking like solid complimentary bets.

Premier League Tips – Tuesday 14 July

Man Utd v Southampton

Venue: Old Trafford, Manchester | Start: 5:00 AM

United are the only side with something to play for here and they open as convincing $1.28 favourites. They’ve been on a very strong run of late and now sit in 5th place with 58 total points.

This was capped off by a convincing 3-0 win over Villa last time out, moving them to 1 point outside the top 4. Southampton is another side sitting firmly mid-table, in 12th position with 44 points.

They’ve been in some decent form of late, beating Man City and Drawing with Everton in their last two. Combine home field, the talent and motivation edge and it’s tough to ignore United in this one.

I’m predicting them to get the job done 3-1 here in what could be a free-flowing affair. United half-time/full-time and over 2.5 stick out as solid complimentary bets.
