Flemington Race 1 Tips | 11:55 AM | 1000m
Top Tip – Mister Mogul
Jockey: Michael Poy | Trainer: Henry Dwyer
Led and held off all challengers at first try at the 1000m Flemington June 20 on a slow5. Drops four kilos for the win and no reason why it can’t repeat the dose.
Place Tip – Irish Mint
Jockey: Damien Oliver | Trainer: Richard & Chantelle Jolly
Having its first try down the Flemington straight. Like the way it picked up late to win after being blocked for a run Morphettville June 27. Handles wet and dry ground and Oliver on to help.
Top 4 Tip – Gee Gee Secondover
Jockey: Craig Newitt | Trainer: Leon, Dean & Trent Wells
Resuming. Craig Newitt has ridden this one in Tasmania and is happy to get on it here at first try down the Flemington straight. Is three out of three first up and handles wet and dry ground. Respect.
Flemington Race 2 Tips | 12:30 PM | 1200m
Top Tip – Proper Rogue
Jockey: Damien Oliver | Trainer: Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr
Has won down the Flemington straight at 1100m. Look unlucky when placed first up Caulfield June 27 when blocked up the straight and finished well once out. Is a second up winner. Doesn’t want it too wet.
Place Tip – Wilmot Pass
Jockey: Jamie Kah | Trainer: Anthony Freedman
Looked unlucky Caulfield June 27 1000m when tailed off early and blocked in the straight narrowly missing a place when first up. Is a second up winner. First try down the Flemington straight. Must be respected.
Top 4 Tip – Sansom
Jockey: Thomas Stackdale | Trainer: Phillip Stokes
Very consistent and no problem with the big weight after the Stockdale claim. Unplaced down this straight in the past but may be given a cover here which can help. Right in it.
Flemington Race 3 Tips | 1:05 PM | 1800m
Top Tip – Choir
Jockey: Dean Yendall | Trainer: James Cummings
Probably just as good at Alcyone when they met Ballarat May 31 in a unsuitable 1200m race. Was doing its best late Ballarat synthetic June 28 1400m behind in subsequent city winner. Up to 1800m suits and long odds. Can win.
Place Tip – Alcyone
Jockey: John Allen | Trainer: James Cummings
Beaten narrowly by a handy one Flemington July 4 1600m when kicked back near the line. Step up to 1800m suits. First try with 61kg is the test but can’t be ruled out on that yet.
Top 4 Tip – Johnny Get Angry
Jockey: Lachlan King | Trainer: Denis Pagan
Big loping type who ran on well Flemington July 4 1600m to place. Looked in need of more ground and gets it here. Up to 60.5kg for the first time but should be okay with it. Right in it.
Flemington Race 4 Tips | 1:40 PM | 1400m
Top Tip – Beauty Bolt
Jockey: Campbell Rawiller | Trainer: Grahame Begg
Found 59.5kg too tough when unplaced Flemington 1400m July 4. REan on strongly at its previous start Flemington 1400m. Gets down to 53kg with the Rawiller claim. Take stopping.
Place Tip – Zabelarina
Jockey: Will Price | Trainer: Archie Alexander
Was the only horse making ground in the final stages June 27 Caulfield 1200m. Bred to enjoy the step up to 1400m on the dam’s side and Flemington should suit. Can settle up closer from barrier four. Go well.
Top 4 Tip – She’s On Time
Jockey: Georgina Cartwright | Trainer: Cindy Alderson
Hasn’t raced since being outclassed in Gr.2, Sunline Stakes Moonee Valley Mar 20. Has won five of 16 starts and won both its 1400m starts. Handles wet and dry ground and is a dual first up winner. Value bet.
Flemington Race 5 Tips | 2:20 PM | 2800m
Top Tip – South Pacific
Jockey: Damien Oliver | Trainer: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace
Irish import who finished down the track on Australian debut Caulfield 2000m June 27 when chopped out approaching the home turn and got going again late. Sizable jump in trip but Oliver sticking with it and would want to do something good here to have a decent future in this country.
Place Tip – Sweet Thomas
Jockey: Craig Williams | Trainer: Matthew Smith
Sydneysider having its first try at Flemington. Got the job done Rosehill 3200m June 27 under 60kg on a heavy track. Well suited to a field like this and can make it two in a row.
Top 4 Tip – Crimson Ace
Jockey: Regan Bayliss | Trainer: Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young
looked unlucky when blocked until the 200m mark and flashed home when placed Sandown Lakeside July 8 2400m. One who is on the up and likes wet tracks.
Flemington Race 6 Tips | 3:00 PM | 1600m
Top Tip – Alphaville
Jockey: Craig Williams | Trainer: Frances Finnegan
never got a clear run in the straight Flemington July 4 1600m and a total forgive performance. Is racing well. Williams stays on and drawn to settle closer. Good odds. Can win it.
Place Tip – Over The Sky
Jockey: Ben Melham | Trainer: Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr
Was dragged back early from a wide draw and blocked in the early part of the straight before unleashing too late Flemington July 4 1600m. Can settle closer from barrier two and still on the up. Right in it
Top 4 Tip – Right You Are
Jockey: Damien Oliver | Trainer: Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr
Good type who has hardly put a hoof wrong this campaign. No disgrace to be beaten by Persan Flemington June 20 2000m. Back in distance is okay from a good draw here but 62kg is of some concern. Too good to dismiss.
Flemington Race 7 Tips | 3:40 PM | 1600m
Top Tip – France’s Boy
Jockey: Georgina Cartwright | Trainer: John Hickmott
Went to quick in front and unplaced Caulfield July 11 on a heavy track. Change of hoop here and getting down further in the weights. Likes it wet and 1600m. Can give it a shake.
Place Tip – Danon Roman
Jockey: Billy Egan | Trainer: Anthony Freedman
Liked the way it finished off over the last 200m when it won Flemington June 20 1620m. Drops in weight for the win and could settle closer in running from barrier 3. Take holding out.
Top 4 Tip – Sircconi
Jockey: Daniel Stackhouse | Trainer: Nick Ryan
Terrific Winter Championship LR win Flemington July 4 when settled up on the speed and never in danger in the final stages beating some in this to the line. The 62kg is the concern and that was its Grand Final.
Flemington Race 8 Tips | 4:15 PM | 2000m
Top Tip – Salsamor
Jockey: Thomas Stockdale | Trainer: Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young
Is working its way back to its best. Put together four in a row earlier in the year. Gets in well with the Stockdale claim and can settle top three from barrier one. Ready to show its best
Place Tip – Polly Grey
Jockey: Damien Thornton | Trainer: Chris Waller
Never shirked the issue when runner up in the Winter Championship final Flemington 1600m July 4 at second Australian start. Nicely drawn and likes wet ground, Must be included.
Top 4 Tip – Creedence
Jockey: Michael Poy | Trainer: Matt Cumani
Continues to race well and was doing its best work late when unplaced at Caulfield June 27 2000m. Won at this track the previous outing. Has a wide draw but look for it late.
Flemington Race 9 Tips | 4:48 PM | 1200m
Top Tip – Pinyin
Jockey: Damien Oliver | Trainer: Jim Conlan
Rocketed home but too late Sandown Lakeside June 24 1000m when it settled too far back early. Step up to 1200m suits and has raced well down Flemington straight without winning. Can do it this time.
Place Tip – Devil’s Rain
Jockey: Lewis German | Trainer: Mark C Webb
Flashed home late when unplaced but not far away Sandown Lakeside 1300m July 1. Only had 10 starts and connections have recently worked out riding him cold early brings the best results. Long odds and can take it.
Top 4 Tip – Our Wind Spirit
Jockey: Michael Rodd | Trainer: Lindsey Smith
Has won four of five starts and did it in comfort Geelong June 26 1100m under 60kg and down is in weight on that here. Handles wet tracks and no problem with 1200m. Still on the up. Respect.
