Moonee Valley Race 1 Tips | 12:35 PM | 1600m
Top Tip – El Galayel
Jockey: Ben Melham | Trainer: Ciaron Maher and David Eustace
Settled at the tail and worked home well Flemington July 18 1600m when it finished just behind the placegetters. Likes Moonee Valley and 1600m. Can settle closer in this smaller field. Top chance
Place Tip – Victoria Star
Jockey: Craig Newitt | Trainer: Greg Eurell
Worked home well late to place in the Winter Championship final Flemington July 4 1600m after a month off the track missing out on starts when an emergency. Fitter for it. Has a good attitude. Go well.
Top 4 Tip – Vassilator
Jockey: Jamie Kah | Trainer: Colin Little
All its wins have been at 1400m but ran well when placed Flemington July 18 2000m when it finished off well late. Back to 1600m probably suits better and a genuine eachway hope here
Moonee Valley Race 2 Tips | 1:10 PM | 1000m
Top Tip – Theresabearinthere
Jockey: Lachlan Neindorf (a,2) | Trainer: Richard and Chantelle Jolly
Led all the way Morphettville June 27 1000m running quicker time than the Benchmark 82 on the same day. That was on a Soft 6 but has also won on dry ground. Looks handy.
Place Tip – Tanker
Jockey: Teodore Nugent (a,2) | Trainer: Ciaron Maher and David Eustace.
Resuming. Raced in the best Victorian two-year-old races earlier this year though never a chance when always back in the Blue Diamond. Did win on debut at 1000m and may be best fresh, Worthy of respect
Top 4 Tip – Jabali Ridge
Jockey: Liam Riordan (a,2) | Trainer: Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr.
Hasn’t been too far away without filling a minor placing lately but lumped 61kg at its past three starts. Down to 57kg after the Riordan claim which suits as does the drop back to its winning trip 1000m. Improvement is on the cards.
Moonee Valley Race 3 Tips | 1:50 PM | 1000m
Top Tip – Esta La Roca
Jockey: Joe Bowditch | Trainer: Lloyd Kennewell.
Led and gave them the slip at the home turn when it won at Cranbourne July 15 1000m in quick time. Drawn in two and can lead them up again and give a bit of cheek at decent odds.
Place Tip – A Beautiful Night
Jockey: Will Price (a,3) | Trainer: Ciaron Maher and David Eustace.
Resuming. Led the Blue Diamond field Caulfield 1200m Feb 22 and faded out late. Its wins have been at 1000m. Has the early dash to settle up on the speed and wouldn’t rule out in a field like this
Top 4 Tip – Peggy Selene
Jockey: Jye McNeil | Trainer: Ciaron Maher and David Eustace.
Gutsy effort when caught wide all the way and was nailed in the final stages Sandown Lakeside June 24 1000m on a heavy track. Has raced well on dryer ground and well-drawn here. Can give it a shake.
Moonee Valley Race 4 Tips | 2:30 PM | 1000m
Top Tip – Propelle
Jockey: Jamie Kah | Trainer: Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra
Has been working home well in its races. Didn’t have much luck two starts back and settled too far back Caulfield July 25 1100m. On a week’s back up and is a Moonee Valley winner. Go well
Place Tip – Brooklyn Hustle
Jockey: Dwayne Dunn | Trainer: Jason Warren
Resuming. Has been lightly raced but has been good when it gets to the races. Won on debut at this trip here and has placed at Gr.3, level. Drawn to settle behind the speed and finish off strongly
Top 4 Tip – A Good Yarn
Jockey: Jarrod Fry | Trainer: Mervyn McKenzie
Led and made them look second rate Geelong July 17 1112m under 62.5kg. Drawn to lead again no problem with 60.5kg or a drying track. Right in it
Moonee Valley Race 5 Tips | 3:10 PM | 1600m
Top Tip – Sovereign Award
Jockey: Damien Oliver | Trainer: Danny O’Brien.
Resumed with a good win at Sale July 9 1423m after settling midfield under 61.5kg. Is a second up winner. Won its lone Moonee Valley start. Well drawn and Ollie happy to stick with it. Go close.
Place Tip – West Wind
Jockey: Teodore Nugent (a,2) | Trainer: Ciaron Maher and David Eustace
Led but rolled around in the straight when placed at Sale July 9 1623m on a Soft 5. Drops in weight after the Nugent claim and a Soft 5 or dryer suits best. Has won three of six start and still on the up
Top 4 Tip – Maximak
Jockey: Ethan Brown | Trainer: Matt Laurie
Was doing its best work late when placed Flemington 1400m July 18 Slow 5. This step back up to 1600m suits and has placed at Moonee Valley Wide draw but settles back anyway. Look for it late
Moonee Valley Race 6 Tips | 3:50 PM | 1200m
Top Tip – Condo’s Express
Jockey: Michael Walker | Trainer: Richard Laming.
Resuming, Has a liking for Moonee Valley and is a Gr.3, placegetter at the track. Has drawn well and has placed first up in the past. Handles all track conditions. A fair bit of speed in this race and can settle behind the pace and finish off.
Place Tip – Sir Kalahad
Jockey: Harry Grace (a,3) | Trainer: Gavin Bedggood.
Led and made them look second rate July 8 Sandown Lakeside 1200m on a Heavy 9. Has won five races on dry tracks. Nicely in on weights and drawn to lead again. Could sneak away with it.
Top 4 Tip – Willmot Pass
Jockey: Jamie Kah | Trainer: Anthony Freedman.
Has been good since coming back from a break. Was unlucky first up and then won Flemington July18 1200m Slow 5 down the straight. First start at Moonee Valley. Draw in two and can follow the speed and make a late challenge
Moonee Valley Race 7 Tips | 4:25 PM | 2040m
Top Tip – Mahamedeis
Jockey: Rhys McLeod | Trainer: Nick Ryan
Settled off the speed but a strong winner Caulfield July 25 on a Good 4. Likes Moonee Valley. This 60kg is okay. On a week’s back up. Doesn’t want it wetter than Soft 5. Can win again
Place Tip – Mirimar
Jockey: Dwayne Dunn | Trainer: Michael Moroney
Settled fourth the outside and too good for rivals Caulfield June 27 2000m Soft 6. Drawn to get a similar run and pretty consistent having finished top three in six of its past seven starts.
Top 4 Tip – Sir Pippin
Jockey: John Allen | Trainer: Chris Waller
Has been working home well in its races without winning. A Good-rated track would suit best but okay on a Soft 5. Decent odds in this but wouldn’t sell short.
Moonee Valley Race 8 Tips | 5:00 PM | 1500m
Top Tip – Surreal Image
Jockey: Lachlan King (a,2) | Trainer: Kevin Corstens
Likes to bowl along in front but was taken on in that task Caulfield July 11 Heavy 9 1700m and finished midfield. Back to 1500m here can suit as will dryer ground. First try at Moonee Valley. Could sneak away with it at long odds
Place Tip – Battle Torque
Jockey: Rhys McLeod | Trainer: Nick Ryan
Hasn’t had much luck lately being caught wide two starts back and then last start getting clear running late after being held up. Placed at both of those starts in town. On an week’s back up for this. Respect
Top 4 Tip – Alsvin
Jockey: Georgina Cartwright (a,2) | Trainer: Shea Eden
Settled outside the leader and stuck on okay though unplaced Caulfield July 25. Is a Moonee Valley winner and drawn to land forward without much work. On a week’s back up. Look for an improvement.
Moonee Valley Race 9 Tips | 5:35 PM | 1200m
Top Tip – Sebrakate
Jockey: Thomas Stockdale (a,2) | Trainer: Tom Dabernig and Ben Hayes
Resuming. Is a dual first up winner and a dual Gr.3, placegetter. Has barrier one and can settle on the speed here. Handles all track conditions but dry would suit best. Has enough weight but class can see it through.
Place Tip – There You Are
Jockey: Ben Melham | Trainer: Henry Dwyer
Sneaks into the field here. Coming off a strong Moonee Valley July 12 win Heavy 9 1200m after being caught wide without cover for much of the race. No problems with the dryer track in this and is a chance at decent odds
Top 4 Tip – Melodeon
Jockey: Damien Oliver | Trainer: Charlotte Littlefield.
Likes Moonee Valley and was working home well when first up at Cranbourne July 15 1000m after settling at the tail. Wide draw here and likely to settle back again. Oliver on to help. Chance at odds.
