SUNS VS MAVERICKS

Visa Athletic Center | 11:00am AEST

The Dallas Mavericks have an opportunity to clinch a postseason berth on Sunday when they go up against the Phoenix Suns. It’s also possible that the Mavericks will lock up a playoff spot earlier in the day if the Memphis Grizzlies fall short against the San Antonio Spurs. Regardless, it feels like a formality that Dallas will make a playoff appearance, and the team knows its remaining seeding games could help create momentum for the high-stakes matchups ahead. The Mavericks are coming off a thrilling but ultimatlely disappointing 153-149 overtime loss to the Houston Rockets in their first game of the restart. Meanwhile, Phoenix posted a 125-112 win over the Washington Wizards in the opening game, but now the Suns face much tougher competition in the form of Luka Doncic, Kristaps Porzingis and others.

MAGIC VS KINGS

HP Field House | 8:00am AEST

The Orlando Magic will go for their second win in a row within the NBA bubble when they host the Sacramento Kings on Sunday. Orlando is coming off a 128-118 win over the Brooklyn Nets that featured a team-high 24 points from Evan Fournier. Big man Nikola Vucevic also made a difference with 22 points, seven boards and five assists, while Aaron Gordon notched a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Sacramento dropped its return game 129-120 against the San Antonio Spurs, and the Kings’ hopes of securing a playoff spot in the Western Conference are flimsy at best. Yet Luke Walton wants to see development from his group, and a hard-fought game is a definite possibility after Orlando held on for a two-point win in the teams’ last meeting in January.

GRIZZLIES VS SPURS

Visa Athletic Center | 6:00am AEST

Granted, it will not be a battle for Western Conference supremacy when the San Antonio Spurs go up against the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday. But the game offers plenty of intrigue, particularly when one considers that the Grizzlies own the eighth and final playoff spot in the conference, and the Spurs are desperate to grab that position. San Antonio got off on the right foot as it won the first game of the NBA restart with a 129-120 win over the Sacramento Kings. DeMar DeRozan (27 points) and Derrick White (26) led the way on offense for the Spurs, who shot 53.3 percent from the field and 40 percent from beyond the arc. Memphis will look to bounce back from a 140-135 overtime loss against the Portland Trail Blazers. Jaren Jackson dropped 33 points but Ja Morant shot only 7 of 22 from the field and 1 of 7 from distance.

ROCKETS VS BUCKS

The Arena | 10:30am AEST

In Sunday’s top game on the NBA slate, the Houston Rockets will go up against the Milwaukee Bucks in a matchup that could carry a playoff-like vibe. Milwaukee is the odds-on favorite to win the Eastern Conference title and compete for a spot in the NBA Finals, but nothing is guaranteed in this craziest of seasons. The Bucks did offer plenty to like as they held on for a 119-112 win over the Boston Celtics on Friday night in their first taste of game action since March 9. Giannis Antetokounmpo poured in 36 points on 14-for-20 shooting while also grabbing 15 rebounds and dishing seven assists. Houston will undoubtedly look to prove a point in front of a national television audience, particularly after an uplifting 153-149 overtime win over the Dallas Mavericks two nights ago. James Harden tallied 49 points while Russell Westbrook played well across the board with 31 points, 11 boards and eight assists.

NETS VS WIZARDS

HP Field House | 4:00am AEST

Somebody has to win when the Brooklyn Nets take on the Washington Wizards on Sunday in the NBA bubble near Orlando. Brooklyn technically is holding on to a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, but the Nets have been decimated by injuries and illnessses, and their best bet seems to be to focus on next season once Kevin Durant & Co. are ready to go. Washington is on the outside looking in when it comes to the playoff picture, and the absence of star Bradley Beal significantly weakens a team that already had plenty of warts. Brooklyn is coming off a 128-118 loss against the Orlando Magic on Friday night, while Washington is coming off a 125-112 setback against the Phoenix Suns.

CELTICS VS TRAIL BLAZERS

The Arena | 5:30am AEST

A desperate Portland Trail Blazers team will try to bolster its chances for a postseason berth when it tips off against the Boston Celtics on Sunday. Portland is 2 1/2 games out of the final playoff spot in the conference, and it will need to post some upset victories in order to erase that margin before the eight seeding games are complete. Portland got off on the right foot Friday as it held on for a 140-135 overtime win against the Memphis Grizzlies. The dynamic backcourt duo of Damian Lillard (29 points) and C.J. McCollum (33 points) led the way, as it so often does with the Trail Blazers. As for Boston, the Celtics are coming off a 119-112 loss in the opening game against the Milwaukee Bucks. Marcus Smart scored 23 points on 7-for-11 shooting off the bench to lead the Celtics, while Jaylen Brown chipped in 22 points and Gordon Hayward had 17.
