WIZARDS VS 76ERS

The Arena | 6:00am AEST

The Philadelphia 76ers will have a chance to respond to their coach’s criticism when they face the Washington Wizards on Wednesday. Philadelphia is coming off a hard-fought 132-130 win over the San Antonio Spurs on Monday, but coach Brett Brown did not hide his disdain for the 76ers’ porous defense in the game. He said the team was lucky to have won and let reporters know that “I think it stinks” when asked about the overall defensive effort. Philadelphia currently sits in sixth place in the Eastern Conference and would play the third-seeded Boston Celtics in the first round of the playoffs if the season ended today. Washington is looking to play the spoiler role even though its postseason hopes are all but over. The Wizards are coming off an 11-point loss against the Indiana Pacers on Monday, which dropped the team to 0-3 in Florida.

JAZZ VS GRIZZLIES

HP Field House | 4:30am AEST

The Memphis Grizzlies will try to stop their recent slide when they tip off against the Utah Jazz on Wednesday. Memphis is 0-3 since the NBA restarted play near Orlando, and the Grizzlies sustained a big loss Tuesday when they learned that forward Jaren Jackson Jr. will miss the rest of the season because of a knee injury. The injury, coupled with Memphis’ recent losses, put the Grizzlies’ playoff hopes in real jeopardy despite the fact that they are still clinging to a playoff spot ahead of ninth-place Portland. Memphis will have its hands full with Utah, which is led by dynamic guard Donovan Mitchell. The Jazz are in fifth place in the Western Conference and are looking to bounce back from a 116-108 loss against the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday night. Mitchell scored a team-high 33 points for the Jazz.

SPURS VS NUGGETS

Visa Athletic Center | 6:00am AEST

The stakes are high for the San Antonio Spurs as they take on the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday. San Antonio has reached the playoffs in 22 consecutive seasons, and only five games remain for the Spurs to try to lock in playoff season No. 23. As it stands, San Antonio is in 10th place in the Western Conference standings, two games behind the eighth-seed Memphis Grizzlies. The Spurs remain focused on reaching the postseason and know that they must bounce back quickly from a 132-130 setback against the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday. DeMar DeRozan dropped 30 points in that contest and figures to lead the Spurs’ offensive attack against Denver, which is known for playing tough defense. The Nuggets sit in third place in the Western Conference and are feeling better after outlasting the Oklahoma City Thunder for an overtime win on Monday. Michael Porter Jr. scored 37 points in the victory, which marked a career high.

MAGIC VS RAPTORS

Visa Athletic Center | 10:00am AEST

The Toronto Raptors will try to finish off a four-game season sweep of the Orlando Magic when the teams meet Wednesday. Toronto went 3-0 against Orlando before the league shut down in March, and now the teams will meet near Orlando in a home game for the Magic. The Raptors are 2-0 since the NBA restart and hope to upend the Milwaukee Bucks for the Eastern Conference title, but first the team must focus on the remaining seeding games. One player who is feeling good is Fred VanVleet, who scored a career-high 36 points in a four-point win over the Miami Heat in the Raptors’ most recent game. Orlando has a strong hold on eighth place in the Eastern Conference but must grapple with tough news as young forward Jonathan Isaac will miss the rest of the season — and then some — because of a torn ACL. Orlando is coming off an 11-point loss against the Indiana Pacers.

LAKERS VS THUNDER

HP Field House | 8:30am AEST

The Los Angeles Lakers will not feel much pressure when they tip off against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday. Why not worry? Los Angeles already has clinched the top spot in the Western Conference standings after Monday’s victory over the Utah Jazz. This will mark the first time since 2013 that the Lakers will be part of the playoffs. It remains to be seen whether the Lakers will provide more rest to star veterans LeBron James and Anthony Davis in the coming days. Oklahoma City is 1-1 since the NBA restart near Orlando, and the team currently is in sixth place in the Western Conference standings. The Thunder are only a half-game behind the fourth-place Houston Rockets and fifth-place Utah Jazz. Forward Terrance Ferguson is expected to be available Wednesday after missing Monday’s game because of a contusion on his leg.

CELTICS VS NETS

The Arena | 11:00am AEST

The Boston Celtics will look to improve their playoff security in the Eastern Conference when they face the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday. Boston has a 1 1/2-lead against the fourth-place Miami Heat. If Boston is able to hang on to its third-place position, it could avoid a potential matchup against the conference-leading Milwaukee Bucks in the second round. The Celtics are coming off a 128-124 win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday, which followed a seven-point loss against the Bucks in the previous contest. Brooklyn has been depleted by injuries and illnesses, but the Nets are coming off an improbable 119-116 win over the Bucks on Tuesday night. Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot scored a team-high 26 points in the victory.
