A-League Tipping – Friday August 7
Western United FC v Western Sydney Wanderers
Jubilee Stadium | 5:00 PM AEST (AEST)
Western United open as very slight $2.60 favourites here, with the Wanderers at $2.75 and the Draw at $3.60. The two sides sit 8th and 9th respectively, having both accumulated 30 points this season.
Western United have reached that mark in just 22 games with a plus 6 goal difference, compared to 24 games and -4 for Western Sydney. Neither side has looked especially good since the return to play and both will need to pick it up quickly to make the top 6.
Western United have played just twice in the past few months, recording a win over Melbourne Victory but a rather poor loss to Newcastle last time out. Western Sydney has managed 4 points from their last 3 games but was thoroughly outclassed by Perth in a 3-1 defeat on Tuesday.
The Draw always looks enticing in matchups like these and $3.60 represents excellent value in my opinion. This is especially good with the half-time/full-time double, with draw/draw currently at $5.50. I can see a relatively low-scoring and cagey affair here, with 0-0 at $12 and 1-1 at $6.50 sticking out in the scorecast market.
Under 2.5 goals looks solid at $2.08 and ‘no’ in the BTTS market at $2.37 also offers some value.
