Atlanta Falcons star wide receiver Julio Jones will be a game-time decision for this weekend’s contest versus the visiting Chicago Bears, coach Dan Quinn announced Friday.
Jones aggravated his ailing hamstring in last Sunday’s 40-39 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. The setback dropped the Falcons to 0-2 on the season.
Quinn said that Jones would work on the side on Friday after missing practice in each of the previous two days. He also noted that Jones has been involved in the game plan for the Bears’ game.
Fellow wideouts Calvin Ridley and Russell Gage are expected to see an even bigger workload should Jones sit out Sunday’s contest against the Bears (2-0).
Jones, 31, has been dealing with the hamstring issue since tweaking it during a scrimmage on Aug. 28, Quinn said last week.
Jones has 11 catches for 181 yards through the first two games without a touchdown grab. The seven-time Pro Bowl selection and two-time first-team All Pro has 12,306 yards receiving and 57 touchdowns for his career.
Also on Friday, Quinn ruled out safety Ricardo Allen (hyperextended elbow) and cornerback Kendall Sheffield (foot) for Sunday’s game.
