The New England Patriots canceled Friday’s practice after a player tested positive for COVID-19, multiple outlets reported.

The team reportedly was awaiting confirmation of a positive test involving a second person, as well.

NFL Network later reported that the team was placing center James Ferentz on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.

The Patriots (2-2) are scheduled to host the Denver Broncos (1-3) on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET in Foxborough, Mass.

That game already has been rescheduled twice following earlier positive tests within the Patriots organization, including quarterback Cam Newton and cornerback Stephon Gilmore. Both players returned to practice on Thursday.

The game was originally set for Sunday, Oct. 11, and then pushed back to Monday, Oct. 12, before ultimately being postponed to this Sunday. Both teams took a bye week instead last weekend.

Ferentz, 31, made his 2020 debut in Week 4 at Kansas City, playing all 75 offensive snaps in a 26-10 loss.

Ferentz is in his third season with the Patriots following two seasons with the Denver Broncos (2015-16) and one with the Houston Texans (2014).
