Orlando Magic guard Evan Fournier will exercise a $17 million player option for the 2020-21 season, according to a report from The Athletic on Sunday night.

Fournier, 28, averaged a career-high 18.5 points while starting all 66 games in which he played last season. He also averaged 3.2 assists and 2.6 rebounds, shooting 39.9 percent from 3-point range.

Fournier has a career average of 14.1 points in eight NBA seasons. The Frenchman played his first two seasons with Denver after being a first-round pick of the Nuggets in 2012. The Magic acquired him in a trade in the summer of 2014.

He signed a five-year, $85 million contract with Orlando before the 2016 season.

Fournier has helped Orlando reach the playoffs in each of the past two years, although he averaged only 12.8 points in five playoff games last season.
