New England Patriots v Los Angeles Rams
SoFi Stadium | 12:20 PM (AEST)
Jared Goff aims to follow up one of his strongest performances of the season when the Los Angeles Rams host the New England Patriots on Thursday night in Inglewood, Calif. Goff answered a pair of two-interception efforts by completing 78.7 per cent of his passes for 351 yards in the Rams’ 38-28 win over Arizona on Sunday. The victory was the third in the last four outings for Los Angeles, which now sits atop the NFC West via a tiebreaker. Goff, however, may find himself venturing back in time on Thursday when he faces the Patriots, against whom he struggled mightily in a setback in Super Bowl LIII. New England coach Bill Belichick may allow himself to shed a small smile when recalling that game, but his current charges are also faring well with wins in four of their five games. Cam Newton accounted for three touchdowns (two rushing, one passing) on Sunday in the Patriots’ 45-0 romp over the Chargers. That game, like the one on Thursday, was held at SoFi Stadium. Newton, a former NFL MVP, has thrown for just 153 yards over his past two games combined.
