Buffalo Bills v Indianapolis Colts
Bills Stadium | 5:05am AEDT
The Indianapolis Colts look to pull off a major upset when they visit the Buffalo Bills on Saturday in an AFC wild-card contest at Orchard Park, N.Y. Buffalo has won six straight games, including the last three by an average of 29.3 points, so it will take a monumental effort from the Colts and perhaps another big effort by running back Jonathan Taylor. The rookie set a franchise record with 253 yards in last Sunday’s 28-14 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. He also rushed for two touchdowns and carried the ball 30 times but had a sore shoulder Wednesday. Philip Rivers passed for 4,169 yards and 24 touchdowns this season, while Bills star Josh Allen set franchise marks with 4,544 yards and 37 touchdowns. Allen and standout wideout Stefan Diggs — who led the NFL with a career-best 127 receptions while also posting a career-high 1,535 yards — helped the Bills rank second in the NFL in scoring offense (31.3 points per game) while tying for second in total offense (396.4 yards per game). Buffalo’s 13 wins in the regular season is the most for the franchise since it also won 13 in 1991. Indianapolis ranks ninth in scoring offense (28.2) and 10th in total offense (378.1).
Seattle Seahawk v Los Angeles Rams
Lumen Field | 8:40am AEDT
Los Angeles will keep the Seattle Seahawks and the rest of the viewing public in the dark on the identity of their starting quarterback until Saturday. Most signs point to rookie John Wolford getting his second straight start with Jared Goff (thumb) a possibility to give it a go. Life won’t be easy for either. If not for a 49ers touchdown with 23 seconds remaining Sunday, the Seahawks would have held each of their final six opponents to fewer than 20 points. That fact could set up a defensive tussle. Los Angeles’ defense allowed the fewest points, total yards, yards passing, touchdown passes and first downs in the league this season. The critical injury for the Seattle side is safety Jamal Adams. He’s nursing a shoulder injury but said on Wednesday there’s no chance he’ll sit out. How effective he might be in slowing the Rams’ running game is another story.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers v Washington Football Team
FedExField | 12:15pm AEDT
Tom Brady looks to write another chapter in his seemingly endless book on the postseason Saturday when the fifth-seeded Tampa Bay Buccaneers visit the fourth-seeded Washington Football Team. The six-time Super Bowl winner has raised the bar for a Buccaneers team that last qualified for the playoffs in 2007. Brady guided Tampa Bay to an 11-5 record after throwing a franchise-record 40 touchdowns, including 20 over his last seven games. The Buccaneers’ boasted the NFL’s second-ranked passing offense (289.1 yards per game) due in large part to Mike Evans, who led the team in catches (70), receiving yards (1,006) and receiving touchdowns (13). Evans’ availability for Saturday remains in question as he nurses a knee injury sustained in the season finale. Ronald Jones set career highs in rushing yards (978) and rushing touchdowns (seven) for the Bucs, who averaged an NFL third-best 30.8 points. NFC East champion Washington aims to keep pace behind Alex Smith, whose 5-1 record as a starter helped the team finish with a 7-9 record. Rookie Antonio Gibson rushed for a rookie high-tying 11 touchdowns, Terry McLaurin posted team highs in catches (87) and receiving yards (1,118) and Logan Thomas led NFC tight ends with a career-high 72 catches.
