Washington Wizards center Thomas Bryant suffered a partially torn left anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in a game against the Miami Heat on Saturday night, the team announced.
With 10:07 to play in the first quarter of the 128-124 loss, Bryant’s left leg bent awkwardly and he fell to the court, clutching his left knee in obvious pain.
Bryant, 23, entered the game averaging 15.9 points and 6.8 rebounds through nine starts.
The Wizards were already shorthanded, playing without NBA leading scorer Bradley Beal due to health and safety protocols. The Athletic reported that Beal was placed in the protocol due to contact tracing with Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum.
