Philadelphia 76ers v Atlanta Hawks

State Farm Arena | 11:30am AEDT

Shorthanded due to injuries and COVID-19 concerns, the Philadelphia 76ers will try to regroup from two straight losses Monday as they visit the Atlanta Hawks. Ben Simmons (left knee soreness) and Joel Embiid (back) were out for Saturday’s 115-103 home loss to Denver, with fellow starters Tobias Harris and Seth Curry sidelined due to COVID-19, as Curry tested positive Thursday. First-round draft pick Tyrese Maxey shined in their stead, scoring 39 points on 18-for-33 shooting while playing 44 minutes. Atlanta is seeking to end a four-game losing streak after winning four of five to begin the campaign. Trae Young has registered a double-double in three of the past four games after contributing 15 points and 10 assists during Saturday’s 113-105 loss at the Hornets. Cam Reddish led the Hawks with 21 points, while De’Andre Hunter scored 20. Bogdan Bogdanovic sustained a knee injury in the second quarter and did not return. An MRI Sunday showed Bogdanovic fractured his right knee. Atlanta has surrendered at least 102 points in seven of nine games this season. Embiid averaged 35.3 points and 13.7 rebounds a game in three games against the Hawks last season. Young averaged 30.7 points, 12.3 assists and 5.7 rebounds.

Memphis Grizzlies v Cleveland Cavaliers

Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse | 11:00am AEDT

The Cavaliers aim to defeat the Memphis Grizzlies for the second time in five days when the teams meet in Cleveland on Monday. The Cavaliers notched their lone win in the last four outings with a 94-90 victory in Memphis on Thursday. Andre Drummond collected 22 points and 15 rebounds in that contest and recorded his 10th straight double-double to start the season with 26 and 24, respectively, in a 100-90 setback at the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday. Cleveland capped a 10-day road trip with a 2-4 mark, a respectable showing given the team’s sheer mass of injuries. Collin Sexton, who averages a team-high 25.1 points per game, has missed two straight games with a sprained left ankle. Memphis’ Jonas Valanciunas had 17 points and 10 rebounds in the previous encounter with the Cavaliers, but he was pulled after playing 14 minutes in the first half of Friday’s 115-110 win over the Brooklyn Nets due to health and safety protocols. A report from The Athletic noted that Valanciunas did not test positive for COVID-19. Dillon Brooks finished with 24 points and Brandon Clarke added 21 in the victory for the Grizzlies, who have yet to win back-to-back games this season.

Indiana Pacers v Sacramento Kings

Golden 1 Center | 2:00pm AEDT

Domantas Sabonis attempts to follow up a sparkling individual performance when the Indiana Pacers visit the defensively challenged Sacramento Kings on Monday. Sabonis had 28 points and matched his career high of 22 rebounds in Saturday’s 125-117 home win over the Phoenix Suns for the first 20-point, 20-rebound outing of his career. Sabonis scored 20 of his points in the third quarter. Leading scorer Malcolm Brogdon (23.4) connected on just 7 of 20 shots while scoring 22 against the Suns. The contest at Sacramento is the opener of a five-game western road excursion. The Pacers have won six of their last seven games against Sacramento. The Kings have lost five of their past six games. Sacramento has been particularly bad on defense over the past four games by allowing an average of 132.5 points. The Kings’ last three setbacks are by an average of 26 points. Tyrese Haliburton made his first career start in Saturday’s 125-99 home loss to the Portland Trail Blazers and contributed 12 points and eight assists in 31 minutes. The 12th overall pick of the 2020 draft has reached double digits in six consecutive games. De’Aaron Fox leads Sacramento in scoring (18.0) but had just 10 points on 3-of-9 shooting against Portland.

Toronto Raptors v Portland Trail Blazers

Moda Center | 2:00pm AEDT

After two of their highest scoring games of the season, the Portland Trail Blazers will put their hot offense up against the Toronto Raptors at home on Monday. Portland scored 135 and 125 points in consecutive victories over the Minnesota Timberwolves and Sacramento Kings, their first- and third-most points in a game this season. CJ McCollum scored 37 points in Saturday’s victory over the Kings, while Damian Lillard went through an off night with 17 points and 1-of-7 shooting from 3-point range. Portland’s defense also has improved since they were blasted in a loss last week to a Golden State Warriors team that scored 137 points. The Raptors enter off a 106-105 defeat at Golden State on Sunday when they rallied to take the lead in the closing seconds before the Warriors’ Damion Lee made two late free throws to win it. The Raptors made a game of it despite trailing by 17 points early in the fourth quarter. Toronto is playing the final game of a four-game west-coast road trip and will return “home” to Tampa, Fla., on Thursday to face the Charlotte Hornets. Toronto has won eight of the last 10 meetings, although the teams split their season series each of the last two seasons.

Milwaukee Bucks v Orlando Magic

Amway Center | 11:00am AEDT

The Milwaukee Bucks begin a two-game road trip without knowing if Giannis Antetokounmpo will be in the lineup. The two-time NBA Most Valuable Player’s availability for Monday’s game against the Orlando Magic is in question after back spasms forced him to sit out Milwaukee’s 100-90 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday. Antetokounmpo, who was injured the previous day, averages team-leading totals in points per game (27.1) and rebounds (10.6) this season. Khris Middleton enters Monday’s tilt versus the Magic on a high. He erupted for 27 points versus the Cavaliers and is shooting 61.4 percent from the floor and 57.7 percent from 3-point range during his last five games. Orlando would love to exact a measure of revenge versus Milwaukee after falling to the Bucks in five games during the Eastern Conference first-round series. The Magic, however, have answered a franchise-best 4-0 start with four losses in their last six games, including a 112-98 setback at the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday. Nikola Vucevic had a season high-tying 30 points and 15 rebounds in that game, marking his seventh double-double of the season. Orlando’s Evan Fournier hopes to return to the court after missing his last five games with a balky injury.

New Orleans Pelicans v Dallas Mavericks

American Airlines Center | 12:30pm AEDT

Kristaps Porzingis could be cleared to make his season debut when the Dallas Mavericks host the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday night. Porzingis suffered a knee injury in mid-August during the first round of the playoffs and he has been working toward a return. The big man is listed as questionable. Having Porzingis available would be great timing for Dallas as forwards Dorian Finney-Smith and Maxi Kleber and guards Josh Richardson and Jalen Brunson are all sidelined due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols. Star point guard Luka Doncic is healthy and guards Tim Hardaway Jr. (36 points, eight 3-pointers) and Trey Burke (29 points, seven treys) were superb in Saturday’s 112-98 home win over the Orlando Magic. The Mavericks went 4-0 against the Pelicans last season with one of the wins being by a whopping 46 points. This visit to Dallas is the start of a seven-game road trip for New Orleans. The Pelicans have lost three straight games after falling 118-110 to the Charlotte Hornets on Friday. Zion Williamson scored 26 points and has topped 20 in each of the past four games. Brandon Ingram was a shaky 3 of 10 from the field against the Hornets while scoring 17 points. Center Steven Adams (migraine) is questionable.

New York Knicks v Charlotte Hornets

Spectrum Center | 11:00am AEDT

The hot-shooting Hornets run into one of the league’s top defensive teams when they host the Knicks on Monday night. Charlotte has won three in a row, putting up 118 and 113 points in a pair of eight-point wins over New Orleans and Atlanta on Friday and Saturday, respectively. Gordon Hayward led the way against the Pelicans with 26 points on a 9-for-18 shooting night, but LaMelo Ball has stolen the spotlight in Charlotte. After missing a triple-double by one assist in New Orleans, he had 22 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists on Saturday. In the Knicks (5-5), the Hornets will see a team under new coach Tom Thibodeau that ranks among the NBA elite both in terms of defensive field-goal percentage and 3-point field-goal percentage. The problem of late for New York has been its offense. The Knicks shot just 35.8 percent, scored just 89 points and lost by 12 at home to the Thunder on Friday, then hit the same point total while shooting just 6-for-21 on 3-pointers in a 25-point home shellacking at the hands of the Nuggets on Sunday. Julius Randle has been a bright spot with eight consecutive double-doubles, including 29 points and 10 rebounds against Denver.

Phoenix Suns v Washington Wizards

Capital One Arena | 11:00am AEDT

The Phoenix Suns will try to complete their three-game road trip with a winning record as they visit the Washington Wizards on Monday night. Mikal Bridges will aim to build off Saturday’s breakthrough performance against Indiana, as he scored a career-best 34 points on 12-for-18 shooting, including 6-for-8 from beyond the arc. The Suns also will look to sustain strong ball movement that saw them commit just three turnovers in their 125-117 win at Indiana one night after having 20 turnovers while squandering a 23-point advantage in an overtime loss at Detroit. Devin Booker is averaging 34.3 points in his past four games against the Wizards, including a 50-point effort in March 2019. The Wizards have dropped three straight following Saturday’s 128-124 home loss to Miami and still are seeking their first home victory. According to reports, Thomas Bryant suffered a season-ending left ACL tear in the game. Washington already was without Bradley Beal, who was placed in the league’s health and safety protocol, as well as backcourt mate Russell Westbrook (left quad). Washington leads the all-time series 66-63, including a 36-24 advantage at home. The winning team has finished with at least 120 points in the past four meetings.
