Oklahoma City Thunder v Portland Trail Blazers
Moda Center | 2:00pm AEDT
Damian Lillard will look to score at least 35 points for the fifth time in six games when the Portland Trail Blazers host the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday. Lillard recorded 39 points and eight assists on Sunday as the Trail Blazers notched a 116-113 victory over the visiting New York Knicks. The five-time All-Star made all 11 free-throw attempts to raise his consecutive streak to 66, breaking his own franchise mark of 64 set in March of 2018. Anfernee Simons, taking on a bigger role with CJ McCollum (fractured foot) sidelined, scored a season-high 16 points. The Thunder have dropped the first three games of a five-game road trip, losing to the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday before falling to the Los Angeles Clippers on both Friday and Sunday. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander averaged 26.5 and 7.5 assists in the two losses to the Clippers. He scored 23 points and George Hill added a season-best 22 on 9-of-12 shooting in Sunday’s 108-101 setback, the club’s fifth setback in the past six games. Hill made 3 of 4 3-pointers but the rest of the Oklahoma City players were a combined 4 of 31. The Thunder split four matchups with Portland last season and have won six of the past eight meetings.

Toronto Raptors v Indiana Pacers
Bankers Life Fieldhouse | 11:00am AEDT
The Toronto Raptors will be on the hunt for consecutive victories over the Indiana Pacers when the teams meet again Monday at Indianapolis. The Raptors earned a 107-102 victory over the Pacers on Sunday when OG Anunoby scored 30 points. Toronto was without Kyle Lowry (foot) and Pascal Siakam (knee). That duo combines for more than 36 points per game. Fred VanVleet scored 21 for Toronto while Norman Powell added 20. The Raptors have won five of their last six and have a much different air about them than when they were in the midst of a 1-6 start to the season as they were grasping the reality of home games at Tampa, Fla. The Pacers received 25 points and six blocks from Myles Turner, but Domantas Sabonis scored just 10 and did not have a point in the second half. Sabonis entered the contest averaging 21.7 points per game. Sabonis did have 19 rebounds to give him a double-double in all 16 games this season. The Pacers are just 2-3 since Victor Oladipo was traded to the Houston Rockets in a four-team deal. Indiana received Caris LeVert in the trade but he has yet to play for the Pacers after a small mass was discovered on his kidney during his trade physical.

Philadelphia 76ers v Detroit Pistons
Little Caesars Arena | 11:00am AEDT
The Philadelphia 76ers will vie for a two-game sweep of the Detroit Pistons and extend their winning streak to four games on Monday night when the teams reconvene in Motown. Joel Embiid has erupted for 113 points in the last three games, including a team-high 33 in the 76ers’ 114-110 victory over the Pistons on Saturday night. The three-time All-Star averages team-best totals in points (27.7) and rebounds (11.5). Ben Simmons added a season-high 20 points and Seth Curry added 14 for Philadelphia, which sports a 3-4 record on the road as opposed to a sterling 9-1 mark at home. While the 76ers sit atop the Eastern Conference, the Pistons have dropped four in a row to reside comfortably in the basement. Wayne Ellington had a team-high 17 points on Saturday night, however Detroit received promising contributions from Svi Mykhailiuk and Sekou Doumbouya. The latter two players came off the bench to combine for 28 points and eight rebounds. Blake Griffin (injury management) and Derrick Rose (knee) are expected to return to the lineup on Monday, while Jerami Grant — the team’s leading scorer at 24.2 points per game — looks to atone for a 3-of-19 performance from the floor Saturday with 11 points.

San Antonio Spurs v New Orleans Pelicans
Smoothie King Center | 1:00pm AEDT
The New Orleans Pelicans are having all kinds of troubles and hope their fortunes will begin changing when they open a six-game homestand against the San Antonio Spurs on Monday. New Orleans lost 120-110 to the lowly Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday for their third straight loss and eighth in the past nine games. The setback finished up a 1-5 road trip for the Pelicans. Brandon Ingram scored 30 points against Minnesota for his third 30-point effort of the season. Zion Williamson had 19 points on 6-of-16 shooting against the Timberwolves to halt his streak of 20-point efforts at eight. Ingram recorded 28 points, 11 rebounds and six assists in the lone meeting last season, when the host Pelicans posted a 98-95 win to end San Antonio’s four-game winning streak in the series. The Spurs rolled to a 121-101 home triumph over the Washington Wizards on Sunday to stop a two-game slide. Patty Mills scored 21 points in 21 minutes to top 20 for the fifth time this season. The 32-year-old knocked down 4 of 8 3-pointers after being just 1 of 11 over the previous two games. Veterans DeMar DeRozan (27 minutes) and LaMarcus Aldridge (24) were able to get rest in the latter stages of the contest.

Minnesota Timberwolves v Golden State Warriors
Chase Center | 2:00pm AEDT
The Minnesota Timberwolves and Golden State Warriors will meet for the first time since their blockbuster trade last February when the teams begin a two-game set Monday night at San Francisco. A rematch is scheduled for Wednesday, also on the Warriors’ home floor. The series matches D’Angelo Russell, the Warriors’ points-per-game leader last season despite the in-season trade, against Andrew Wiggins, the Timberwolves’ second all-time leading scorer behind Kevin Garnett. The Warriors also acquired Minnesota’s first-round pick in 2021 along with Wiggins, a selection that is top-three protected. The Timberwolves began play Sunday with the second-worst record in the NBA. They did, however, snap a four-game losing streak Saturday with a 120-110 home win over New Orleans. Filling in for COVID-19 stricken Karl-Anthony Towns, Naz Reid paced Minnesota with 20 points, while Jarred Vanderbilt chipped in with 16 points and 11 rebounds for his second career double-double. The Warriors have lost two in a row, including a 127-108 thumping at Utah on Saturday in which Stephen Curry’s five 3-pointers vaulted him past Reggie Miller and into second place on the NBA’s all-time list behind Ray Allen. Rookie center James Wiseman has scored 15 or more points in each of his last three games, a first in his pro career.

Boston Celtics v Chicago Bulls
United Center | 1:00pm AEDT
The Boston Celtics will arrive in Chicago for a game against the Bulls on Monday with a full head of steam after they trounced the Cleveland Cavaliers 141-103 on Sunday. Jaylen Brown scored 33 points and Kemba Walker had 21 as the Celtics put to rest a season-long three-game losing streak. Boston led by as many as 41 points in the third quarter in their highest-scoring game of the season. The Celtics shot 55.9 percent from the field and made 14 3-pointers while shooting 50 percent from distance. Now comes a game away from home where the Celtics are 4-4 this season. They lost consecutive games at Philadelphia last week. Brown is scoring 26.9 points per game but has been well above that in each of his last two contests. The Bulls were held to a season-low 90 points in a home loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday. They are 5-5 going back to Jan. 3, but have been playing a much better brand of basketball. In four of those five defeats the Bulls were within four points at the final buzzer. Zach LaVine had 21 points and 10 rebounds for Chicago on Saturday. He leads Chicago with 26.8 points per game.

Denver Nuggets v Dallas Mavericks
American Airlines Center | 12:30pm AEDT
The Denver Nuggets will take a three-game winning streak into their visit to the Dallas Mavericks, having just outlasted the Phoenix Suns to secure a back-to-back series sweep. Denver, entering the third game of a five-game road trip, is coming off overtime and double-overtime victories against the Phoenix Suns, the latest on Saturday 120-112 in two OTs. Nikola Jokic tallied 12 of his 29 points during the overtime sessions and added 22 rebounds, while Michael Porter Jr. also contributed a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Jamal Murray added 26 points and has gone for 20-plus in eight of the past 14 games. The Mavericks’ two-game winning streak ended Saturday with a 133-108 home loss to the Houston Rockets. Luka Doncic had 26 points, eight assists and five rebounds – his lowest output on the boards in 11 games this month. Tim Hardaway chipped in 15 points, rebounding from an 0 of 6 start from the field. Kristaps Porzingis, who underwent offseason surgery on his right knee, rested with the Mavericks completing a run of five games in seven days. Porzingis has scored at least 20 points in four straight games. Dallas leads the all-time series against Denver 91-86 and has won two consecutive.

Los Angeles Lakers v Cleveland Cavaliers
Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse | 12:00pm AEDT
Winners in seven of their last eight games, the Los Angeles Lakers will take their seven-game road trip to Cleveland on Monday. The Lakers will enter off a 101-90 victory over the Chicago Bulls on Saturday. Anthony Davis scored a season-high 37 points, after failing to reach 20 in his previous five contests. It is his longest run without 20 points since joining the Lakers last season. LeBron James scored 17 points with 11 rebounds as the Lakers improved to 9-0 in road games this season. They are 13-4 one month into their title defense. Los Angeles made just four 3-pointers Saturday and shot 21.1 percent from distance after making 19 of 37 3-pointers (51.4 percent) at Milwaukee on Thursday. The Cavaliers will have to get right back at it after they were dominated 141-103 by the Boston Celtics on the road Sunday. The clunker came to end Cleveland’s three-game winning streak that was wrapped around two postponed games against the Washington Wizards last week. The Cavaliers trailed 73-51 at halftime Sunday and were down by as many as 41 in the third quarter. Seven players scored in double figures for Cleveland but nobody had more than Collin Sexton’s 13. Sexton was held under 20 for the first time this season.

Charlotte Hornets v Orlando Magic
Amway Center | 11:00am AEDT
The host Orlando Magic will get a rematch with the Charlotte Hornets after a 107-104 home loss on Sunday. Orlando led most of the way in the two-game series opener but missed went 1 of 13 to open the fourth period while falling behind. The loss was Orlando’s eighth in its last nine games after a 6-2 start. The Magic played Sunday without Aaron Gordon, who was out with a sore back and hip, but hope to get him back for Monday’s contest. The big differences in the first meeting: The Hornets outshot the Magic 47.7 percent to 44.8 percent, and Orlando had no one to keep pace with Charlotte’s Gordon Hayward, who exploded for 39 points. Orlando’s Nikola Vucevic dominated his matchup with opposing center Bismack Biyombo, outscoring him 22-2 and outrebounding him 13-5. Hayward not only was the game’s leading scorer, but also its hero. His driving layup with seven-tenths of a second remaining broke a 104-all tie and ended Charlotte’s four-game losing streak. He had eight points and teamed with Devonte’ Graham (11) for 19 in a 22-4 run to open the fourth period and turn a nine-point deficit into a 99-90 lead. The Magic had defeated the Hornets in each of their previous four meetings, including three straight at Charlotte.

Miami Heat v Brooklyn Nets
Barclays Center | 11:30am AEDT
The Brooklyn Nets will go for back-to-back wins over the host Miami Heat when the teams meet Monday night. Brooklyn held on to post a 128-124 victory over the Heat on the same court Saturday night, when Kevin Durant scored a team-high 31 points on 11-for-19 shooting, including 4 of 7 from beyond the arc. Kyrie Irving contributed 28 points on 10-of-17 shooting, and Joe Harris finished with 23 points while making 7-of-12 shots from 3-point range. One of the only blemishes for Brooklyn was the performance of James Harden, who had 12 points while shooting 2-of-8 overall and 0 of 5 from long distance. Miami will seek a series tie as it also looks to snap a two-game losing streak. The Heat were led Saturday by Bam Adebayo, who had a game high 41 points in less than 38 minutes. Goran Dragic scored 19 points, while Duncan Robinson and Kendrick Nunn finished with 18 apiece. Miami expects to be without Jimmy Butler, who is sitting out as part of the NBA’s health and safety protocols. Butler’s absence could loom large once again, with the team missing his 15.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game on the season.
