Washington Wizards v Houston Rockets

Toyota Center | 12:00pm AEDT

The Houston Rockets will go for their third win in a row when they host the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night. Houston improved to 6-9 with back-to-back road victories over the Detroit Pistons and the Dallas Mavericks. Now comes a two-game homestand before the Rockets hit the road for four more. Houston is led by Christian Wood by 23.5 points per game, but they might not have him against the Wizards. Wood is listed as doubtful for the game because of a sprained right ankle. If Wood sits out, recent arrival Victor Oladipo likely will take the leading role. Oladipo has been particularly good in his first three games since arriving from the Indiana Pacers as part of a four-team deal that sent James Harden to the Brooklyn Nets. As a member of the Rockets, Oladipo is averaging 22.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists. This will be the second game for Washington since a nearly two-week pause between games because of COVID-19 concerns. The Wizards remain short-handed as Davis Bertans, Deni Avdija, Rui Hachimura, Troy Brown and others are out because of the league’s health and safety protocols. Bradley Beal, who averages 34.5 points per game, is not listed on the injury report.

New York Knicks v Utah Jazz

Vivint Smart Home Arena | 1:00pm AEDT

The Utah Jazz will try to increase their league-best winning streak to nine games when they host the New York Knicks on Tuesday night. Utah started 4-4 before winning the next eight games, including a 127-108 decision over the Golden State Warriors on Saturday night. Donovan Mitchell led the Jazz with 23 points on 9-of-18 shooting, and Rudy Gobert posted a double-double with 11 points and 14 boards. Veteran guard Mike Conley was productive from beyond the arc, making 5 of 9 shots from long distance and finishing with 17 points. The Jazz will look for revenge against the Knicks, who were the most recent team to beat them. On Jan. 26, New York pulled away for a 112-100 win over Utah behind a game-high 30 points and 16 rebounds from Julius Randle. Austin Rivers added 23 points off the bench, and Elfrid Payton finished with 22 points on 10-of-15 shooting to go along with eight assists. New York is looking to snap a two-game skid after losses against the Sacramento Kings and Portland Trail Blazers. This will be the finale of a four-game road trip for the Knicks, who are two games below .500 in Tom Thibodeau’s first season at the helm.

Los Angeles Clippers v Atlanta Hawks

State Farm Arena | 11:30am AEDT

The Los Angeles Clippers will be significantly short-handed when they visit the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday night. Clippers stars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George reportedly did not travel with the team because of the NBA’s health and safety protocols. The duo accounts for nearly 50 points per game, with Leonard averaging 25.9 points per contest and George not far behind with 23.9. In their absence, third-leading scorer Serge Ibaka could be asked to take on a more prominent role on offense. Ibaka enters averaging 12.2 points and 6.5 rebounds in 16 games with Los Angeles. He is capable of doing more, as he proved last season when he averaged a career-best 15.4 points per game with the Toronto Raptors. The Clippers are riding a seven-game winning streak that has improved their record to 13-4 on the young season. Atlanta is 8-8, which is notably better than last season when the team finished with a .299 win percentage. The Hawks also have injury questions heading into the matchup, with Trae Young listed as questionable because of back spasms. Danilo Gallinari (sprained right ankle) and Clint Capela (sore right hand) also are questionable. Atlanta has won three of its last four games.
