PlayUp Review

Is PlayUp good to bet with?

PlayUp is an Australian owned bookmaker which has its headquarters in Sydney and is licensed in the Northern Territory, similar to most of the other Australian bookmakers. They acquired and merged ClassicBet, TopBetta, Madbookie, BestBet and Betting Club into the PlayUp bookmaker brand. They also provide daily sports fantasy competitions via the DraftStars platform. PlayUp also operates in international markets including Asian and India.

PlayUp is an official partner of the South Sydney Rabbitohs NRL team and Newscorp and is quickly becoming a genuine betting option for Australian punters. We took a look at what they offer punters compared to other bookmakers and have compiled this detailed review of their betting services for you to compare and see if they are suitable for your betting requirements.

PlayUp Highlights

During our time betting with PlayUp, we bet with their sports and racing betting products and put together a list of the major highlights we found while betting with them. If you think you would like to give them a go, please signup via one of the links below. These are the main features we found worth noting.

BoostUp – Get enhanced odds for your fixed odds markets bets for sports and racing every day with the BoostUp product. lace your bet as normal and when you see the BOOST UP button in your Bet Slip, click to watch your odds get Boosted Up even further. You are not permitted to used bonus bets for this product or use in conjunction with other promotions.

Competitive NBA Odds – if you bet on the NBA their odds on the head to head and lines markets are usually the best available. They pay out a larger percentage on odds than any other bookmaker. This means you’ll find much better odds with us compared to the rest of bookmakers in Australia more often than not,

Loyalty Rewards – Earn points with every bet with the PlayUp Loyalty Rewards program. Every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday are double rewards which means you will receive twice as many points for bets made on those days. You can use your rewards points to bet on other markets or use for promotions, depending on the state you live in.

Fantasy Sports Betting – Those who love fantasy sports will enjoy their Draftstars product. They offer four different options for play. Draftstars provides large prize pools each month and is the largest daily fantasy sports platform in Australia. The sports which they provide coverage for include Australia’s major codes plus the popular USA and European sports leagues.

PlayUp App

PlayUp Mobile App

We tested the PlayUp app for a week and bet on sports and racing markets. We also trialled their fantasy sports product DraftStars via mobile. For the period we used the app we turned off the WiFi and used mobile data to see the true performance of the app. Overall we found the PlayUp app to perform well and simple to navigate through the betting markets in sports and racing. The mobile site works well via the mobile browser as well.

Android App – The PlayUp android app was tested on both mobile and tablets. The performance was competitive and it was easy to navigate through all the betting markets. Once you have set up your account with them you will be able to download the android version of their app by visiting playup.com.au in your mobile browser.

IOS App – PlayUp’s Apple mobile app works on both tablets and smartphones and offers all the functionality and products that you get betting via the website. The app performed well during our testing and is available to download via their mobile website using your phone’s browser. You will need to open an account before you can install the app.

PlayUp Sports

Betting on sports with PlayUp provides punters with a few valuable betting products. Perhaps their main selling point is that they offer daily fantasy sports as well as regular betting. Their AFL and NRL betting markets ok, but they don’t offer any same game multi-bet options. The coverage of the NBA is also a highlight but overall they do not offer any unique features that set them apart from the other Australian bookmakers. Below are the main features we found while betting on sports with them.

Live Sports Betting – You can bet live on selected live sporting events via the phone. During our time testing their phone betting we found the calls were answered with minimal waiting time and had no issues with getting the bets on in time. The odds available for PlayUp live betting were competitive with the other betting companies in the market.

NBA H2H & Lines – During the NBA season PlayUp is offering fantastic odds on the NBA this season, with 103% markets on Head to Head and Line bets! This means that most of the time they have the best odds for the two most popular NBA betting markets compared to all the other Australian bookmakers.

PlayUp Sports Blog – Their sports and racing blog provides news and free betting tips for most metropolitan horse racing meetings plus popular sports here in Australia and internationally. The content is limited compared to other bookmakers blogs but there are some solid free tips and analysis available but it does lack some detailed analysis you find elsewhere.

Fantasy Sports – PlayUp also own the DraftStars daily fantasy sports platform which offers the biggest cash prize pools in Australia. They provide fantasy sports betting competitions for horse racing, AFL, NFL, soccer, NBA, golf and cricket. Draftstars offers 4 different types of fantasy sports games to play for each sport which gives you plenty of options.

PlayUp Racing

The racing betting offering from PlayUp gives punters some useful products providing some value for thoroughbreds, harness and greyhounds. Not only do they provide betting markets for every Australian thoroughbred race but also selected international racing as well. The odds and promotions for racing are competitive with the larger bookies but one negative is that they do not have any live streaming of racing for their customers. Below are some of the highlights we found while betting on racing with them.

Best of the best premium – PlayUp will pay you the higher of either the best of the 3 Australian TAB’s or the bookmakers’ top fluctuation on all metro thoroughbred meetings, guaranteeing you the absolute best price on all metro thoroughbred racing across Australia every Wednesday and Saturday.

Best Tote or Starting Price – PlayUp offers you the best price of the 3 major TABs, or the official starting price on all Australian thoroughbred meetings, whichever is higher every day. Not all bookmakers offer this product and it does provide a lot of added value to your bet selections payouts if you place a successful bet.

Protest Payout – If your horse is first past the post but is relegated due to a protest, Playup will payout on both the interim winner and the official winner ensuring that your bet is successful even if there is a protest for your race. This betting product is only available on Australian Thoroughbreds only.
